Gran Kaz helps Futuro get back into action.
Following the recent announcement that sports are being given the green light to open up again, Futuro Sports Sesel, a local sports association is gearing up for re-launching their football training sessions.
Assisting them to get things off the ground smoothly, is their long term partner Gran Kaz. At a handing over ceremony at Kenwyn House on Friday, Gran Kaz handed over SCR50, 000 to Futuro Chairperson, Lucas Panayi.
“We’ve been supporting Futuro for some years now because we love the way they are approaching football and sports in general, especially from a grass roots level. They accommodate youths from a very young age and start not only training them, but also instilling in them good habits and practices that will continue to serve them as they grow older.” PR and Communications Manager at Gran Kaz, Ms. Shama Amesbury, tells us.
With the COVID threat, and shutdowns and restrictions over the past 2 years, Futuro has struggled to keep the momentum going, but they’ve never lost heart. Lucas Panayi tells us they are ready and aching to get back on the field.
“COVID has posed a lot of challenges for us, we couldn’t train for the longest time because of it, which was discouraging to the children and the parents as well, but we tried to keep them upbeat and active, by providing them with some home workouts that they could do, and one on one training and fitness sessions. Then when the restrictions eased up a bit we did small training groups of four or less. It was better to do something rather than nothing, but of course it doesn’t compare to the full on trainings and matches that we can do when we can have full teams on the pitch. That’s our number one priority now, to get the kids back on the field.”
The funds Gran Kaz has made available to them will go a long way in getting things back up and running. With the aim being to stock up on training gear and equipment, as well as assisting in various coaching expenses.
Futuro Sports Sesel has also stated that all academy services provided prior within the Victoria & Anse Aux Pins zones are being reviewed for imminent re-launch and commencing dates will be announced soon on its regular platforms.
